  • Our geodesic domes are designed for all four seasons. Each unit is equipped with whisper-quiet mini-split HVAC systems for air conditioning and heating. Our domes are insulated as well but, we also provide extra blankets and heated mattress pads for exceptionally cold mountain nights. If it rains, you can stay perfectly dry inside while watching the storm through our panoramic bay windows.

  • Faraway is nestled on a private 50-acre farm just 15 minutes from Shenandoah National Park. While we maintain strict cleanliness standards and use professional pest control, you may occasionally see 'tiny visitors' like ladybugs or stinkbugs inside the dome. We also share the surrounding lush forests with local wildlife, including white-tailed deer and wild turkeys. We ask guests to keep dome doors zipped and food stored properly.

  • While we feel miles away from it all, we are conveniently located just a 5-minute drive (about 2.5 to 3.7 miles) from the center of Luray. For your grocery needs, you can visit the local Food Lion, West Main Market, or Willow Grove Farm Market.

  • We offer a tiered cancellation policy. You will receive a 100% refund if you cancel at least 14 days before your arrival date. If you cancel 7 to 14 days before arrival, you will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before arrival are non-refundable.

  • Cell service in the Blue Ridge Mountains can be spotty. However, every geodome is equipped with high-speed Starlink WiFi so you can stay connected. Please note that to encourage a true nature reset, our domes are completely TV-free.

  • You do not need to bring bedding. Your geodome is fully outfitted with a plush King-sized bed and premium linens. The kitchenette includes a mini-fridge, sink, complimentary coffee and tea, paper towels, dish soap, and cookware. You also have a private ensuite bathroom with a modern tile shower and towels provided. Outside, you will find a private deck, fire pit, and a gas grill/griddle combo.

  • Check-in begins at 4:00 PM via a contactless smart lock, and check-out is strictly at 11:00 AM. Because our cleaning crews have tight schedules between our secluded units, we enforce an $80 per hour fee for unapproved late checkouts.

  • Faraway is situated on 50 acres of land, allowing for significant spacing between domes compared to traditional high-density campgrounds. While you may see other domes in the distance or guests walking to their cars, each dome is strategically oriented with panoramic windows facing the wilderness. Your private deck and fire pit act as your secluded outdoor living room.

  • es! While some primitive camping in the Shenandoah area requires 4WD, Faraway is fully accessible by a standard vehicle. The final stretch involves maintained country roads, and there is a dedicated parking area for our guests.
